UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT -SOUTHERN DISTRICT

ROGERIO SCOTTON VS. Metrópoles Comunicação S.A. Grupo Estado (Estadão) Grupo Folha (Folha de São P

Scotton & Zaccagnino v. Metrópoles, Estadão, Folha de São Paulo, and Poder360

U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida – West Palm Beach Division
Case No.

This case arises from an unprecedented campaign of defamation, disinformation, and digital abuse launched by four major Brazilian media corporations — Metrópoles Comunicação S.A., Grupo Estado (Estadão), Grupo Folha (Folha de São Paulo), and Poder360 — who intentionally and maliciously published false and defamatory statements about American residents Rogerio Scotton and Peter Zaccagnino, co-owners of Legal Help 4 You LLC, a Florida-registered business.

These foreign media entities published headlines falsely claiming that Mr. Scotton was under FBI investigation, misrepresented his past federal conviction, and falsely alleged fraudulent activity involving major U.S. companies like Apple, Walmart, and Target — all without evidence, investigation, or journalistic integrity.

The lawsuit alleges that these publications were coordinated retaliatory attacks following Mr. Scotton’s constitutionally protected amicus curiae motion filed in the Trump Media v. Moraes case, which criticized judicial overreach by Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Rather than reporting the content of that motion, the media chose to smear the Plaintiffs’ reputation, discredit a U.S.-based legal business, and obstruct federal proceedings.

The complaint seeks:

  • $5 million in compensatory damages per Defendant

  • Punitive damages

  • A permanent injunction banning these media entities from using U.S. platforms (Meta, Google, X, YouTube)

  • Public retractions and apologies

  • A referral to the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the financial sources and potential foreign influence behind these publications, including violations of U.S. law, wire fraud, money laundering, and unregistered foreign agent activity.

This case marks a historic step in defending American residents, businesses, and institutions from foreign media abuse, digital misinformation, and transnational repression. Legal Help 4 You stands firm in its mission to expose the truth and protect human rights through all available legal channels.
